This is Hadrians Wall in Northumberland standing on the North side looking towards the West. The tree in the middle is in a dip in the land called Sycamore Gap. It features in the Kevin Costner Robin Hood film. The Wall runs across the width of England and was built by the Romans. It is not still intact but there are some lengthy stretches that still give a feeling of the sheer scale of it. The local bus service is numbered AD122 which is the year they started to build the wall.
